What is Playful, exactly?
We’re a digital sanctuary and a documentary-style record of the things people usually only whisper about. We cover the intersection of BDSM, electronic music, underground culture, Berlin and raw sex education. We are here to normalise things that are part of our lives, and buried to the public eye due to shame. We want to shine light on the beautiful aspects of life that mainstream media call strange. Because the "strange" is not only very normal once you stop pretending it isn’t.
Why Berlin?
Because Berlin is a city that allows you to be different without being ignored for it. It’s a city built on grit, transition, and the kind of creative freedom that doesn't care about your LinkedIn profile or if you know the 'right people' at the party.
We’re based here because the pavement still feels like history and the basements still feel like the future. It’s the heartbeat of techno and the capital of self-acceptance.
What’s with the focus on Sex and Techno?
They’re the same frequency. Both are about losing your inhibitions, finding a collective pulse, and exiting the "spinning world" for a while. Electronic music is the heartbeat; sex is the breath. We cover techno, house, and DJ profiles not as "celebrity news," but as a study of how sound moves a room. We cover sex—from BDSM education to polyamory struggles—because it’s the most human thing we do, and yet the one we’re most conditioned to lie about.
Is this a porn site?
No. It’s a perspective. While we host erotic stories and discuss sex-positivity, we treat it with a documentary lens. We’re interested in the why and the how—the vulnerability of a first-time kink encounter, the psychology of power dynamics, and the raw reality of the underground scene. We prefer the term "brain syrup" over clinical smut.
Why talk so much about BDSM and Kink?
Because BDSM is another focused way of exploring trust, boundaries, and what makes your skin react. We want to uncover the things society reject without letting us understand what it means. We want people with various interests to feel seen, heard and accepted fully. We want to paint a broader picture than "50 shades of grey". We lift the voices of the underground, that we, ourselves, discovered were built on solid grounds. We will always keep our ears to the ground, wather than to the microphones. We educate through the people who live the lifestyle, not through the scares of societal leaders.

Is everyone in Berlin really a 'spanker' or a 'bunny'?

Are you a political platform?
We aren't a political party, but we are outspoken about the society we want to live in. We believe freedom and passion are democratic essentials. By giving space to conscious, creative people, we’re trying to set a tone for what a democratic society should look like—one that's a bit more honest, a bit more vulnerable, and a lot more interesting than the version being sold elsewhere.
