Dating is weird. Even KI/KI thinks so.

The Dutch DJ and producer, known for her fast-paced sets and trance-heavy selections, might be a force behind the decks—but when it comes to romance? Let’s just say, she’s as human as the rest of us.

At Glitch Festival, Playful Magazine’s Amanda sat down with KI/KI for tea, post-rave exhaustion in full effect, and discovered that even electronic music’s rising stars get awkward on dates.

KI/KI on Love & First Impressions

A lot of things can make a date go wrong. Bad vibes, no chemistry, or simply—too much eye contact.

“I actually get quite awkward on dates. I never know what to say.”

Turns out, KI/KI isn’t the smooth talker you’d expect from someone who commands festival crowds. She’s more about letting things flow naturally—but if there’s one thing she looks for, it’s connection without pressure.

“A green flag for me? Someone who can just be chill. No forced energy, no trying too hard. Just good vibes.”

When it comes to love languages, acts of service win. While some crave words of affirmation or grand gestures, KI/KI appreciates the small things.

“It’s the little stuff. Someone bringing you a coffee or doing something thoughtful without being asked.”

Bringing Love on Tour?

Dating a DJ means navigating late nights, airport sprints, and timezone-induced texts that say ‘good morning’ and ‘good night’ in the same breath. So, would KI/KI bring a partner on tour?

“I don’t know if I could do that. I like my own space when I’m on the road.”

Some artists bring their lovers along for the ride, but for KI/KI, touring is a headspace. The chaos of travel, the adrenaline of performing, and the need for solitude—it all makes relationships tricky.

Still, she believes in balance. The key is finding someone who gets the lifestyle, without expecting to be part of every moment.

“If someone understands the world I’m in and isn’t trying to change it, that’s a good sign.”

KI/KI: More Than Just a DJ

Beyond the music, KI/KI is someone who appreciates quiet moments, genuine connections, and not taking things too seriously. The high-energy sets, the euphoric drops—those are just one part of the story.

“People think DJs are always in party mode, but honestly, I love my downtime. Give me tea, a good conversation, and I’m happy.”

Maybe that’s the real secret—whether in music or love, the best moments aren’t the loudest.
